The American Dipper, also known as a Water Ouzel, is fascinating to watch. He moves quickly jumping in and out of rapidly moving water to feed on aquatic insects, crustaceans and small fish. Although he is often completely submerged, he pops out of the water completely dry. He has a beautiful song and often bobs up and down as if keeping time to music that only he can hear as he moves from rock to rock between dives.
