306 - MAINTENANCE DEFERRED TC (1:1.25).jpg
The term “maintenance deferred” can characterize many farms and ranches. For many small ranchers, it’s more about the way of life than making money. One rancher said that ranching made him a millionaire – then he added he started out as a multi-millionaire. Small time ranching boils down to time, energy, market and money – old barns are not the only casualty of these forces and the profits aren’t always bankable . Photographed in Siskiyou County, CA.
